Arab films screening at the inaugural Amman International Film Festival
Jordan’s first film festival was postponed due to COVID-19 and now it’s officially back on. Scheduled to take place in Amman from Aug. 23 to Aug. 31, 2020, here are some of the films that will be screened during the event.

The Saudi Arabian feature, directed by movie critic-turned-director Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan, focuses on a strained father-son relationship.

This award-winning Sudanese film took home the Luigi De Laurentiis Award at Venice Film Festival as well as the top prize at the El Gouna Film Festival.

Directed by Palestinian filmmaker Najwa Najjar, this film is centred around a couple’s divorce proceedings.

This Mehdi Barsaoui-directed film tells the story of a family who uncover a major secret after an armed group shoots and kills their young child.

The film, directed by Moroccan filmmaker Mohamed Nadif, tells the story of three women who escape a psychiatric ward in Casablanca.

Directed by Mohanad Hayal, this Iraqi film, which debuted in 2019, revolves around a young man who gets shot in war-torn Baghdad while on his way to propose to his partner.
