ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Sunday suspended a Lahore High Court (LHC) ruling directing the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to redraft nomination papers for general election candidates.
Former National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and the ECP filed petitions against the LHC ruling in Pakistan’s top court.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said the general election will be held on July 25, and the ECP will be responsible for any delay.
Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk on Sunday said holding the election on time is a priority for the government.
