ISLAMABAD: Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have wished Pakistani President Arif Alvi a speedy recovery after he tested positive for the coronavirus, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.
The president announced earlier this week that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
“The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince sent cables to the Pakistani President after he contracted the novel coronavirus,” SPA said in a tweet.
President Alvi, 71, contracted the virus after he received his first injected dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
To prevent speculation that vaccines were ineffective, the president said he was not fully vaccinated yet.
“I had the first dose of the vaccine, but antibodies start to develop after the second dose that was due in a week. Please continue to be careful,” the president said in a tweet on Monday.
It takes at least two weeks after vaccination for the body to acquire immunity against the virus that causes COVID-19.
