ISLAMABAD: Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Saeed Al Malki received officials from the Kingdom’s Ministry of Health in Islamabad on Monday.
Headed by Nasser bin Rashid Al-Safi, the delegation arrived in Pakistan to discuss the prospects for cooperation in the health sector, the Saudi Embassy in Islamabad said in a Twitter post.
In the historically strong relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Riyadh for years has been assisting Islamabad in rebuilding health and educational facilities.
In April last year, the Saudi ambassador inaugurated a new building of King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province, which was destroyed when an earthquake hit the region.
Financed by the Saudi government, the new hospital building is now fully equipped and has a bed capacity of 285.
On Oct. 8, 2005, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake ravaged Pakistan-administered Kashmir and parts of Kyber Pakhtunkhawa.
The earthquake caused nearly 75,000 deaths and damaged tens of thousands of buildings, including schools and health care facilities.
