ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent condolences to Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Sunday over the death of former prime minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

Jamali served as the country’s prime minister from 2002 to 2004 and died on Dec. 2, aged 76.

“I was briefed on the news of the death of the former Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, and we extend to you and the family of the deceased our deepest condolences and sincere sympathies,” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said in a statement on Sunday, quoting King Salman.

In a separate message, Crown Prince Salman also extended his “condolences and sincere sympathies” to the former politician’s family.

Jamali hailed from Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan and served in the top office prime during former president Pervez Musharraf’s rule.
