ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday announced restoration of regional cricket associations, departments and service organizations, saying it was preparing a plan to formally induct them into the domestic cricket structure.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the PCB management committee, presided over by PCB chief Najam Sethi at the National High-Performance Centre in Lahore.
This was the second meeting presided over by Sethi since taking over the PCB last week. The committee discussed restructuring of national cricket in line with the PCB Constitution, 2014.
"Following detailed discussions, it was announced Regional and District Cricket Associations and Departments/Service Organisations stand restored and a strategic plan will now be prepared to include them formally in the domestic cricket structure, including participation in the PCB Board of Governors in due course," the board said in a statement after the meeting.
The management committee said it would honor and fulfil all domestic player contracts valid until August next year, according to the statement.
Sethi, a journalist and former PCB chairman who is widely believed to be close to the leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, was appointed interim head of the board last week, while his predecessor Ramiz Raja was sacked by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
As per the Pakistani law, the prime minister is the patron-in-chief of the PCB.
