ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi highlighted his country’s performance in the fight against terrorism during his official visit to Bahrain, an official statement released on Monday read.

On his arrival at the Royal Bahrain Naval Force Headquarters in Manama, Admiral Abbasi was recieved by Commander Royal Bahrain Naval Force, Mohammed Yousef Al Asam.

The two officials discussed matters of mutual interest and tried to explore more avenues of cooperation between the two navies.

Among other things, Admiral Abbasi briefed his counterpart on Pakistan Navy’s Regional Maritime Security Patrol initiative and discussed the forthcoming Multinational Naval Exercise, nanely AMAN-19, which is scheduled to take place in Karachi next month.

Commodore Al Asam appreciated the role and contributions of the Pakistan Navy in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Later, Admiral Abbasi also met with the Commander Bahrain National Guards, Lt Gen Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Commander Bahrain Coast Guards, Major General Ala Abdulla Seyadi.

Both dignitaries acknowledged the warm and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Bahrain, highlighting the fact that the historic ties between the two countries were built on strong foundations.

They also lauded the Pakistan Navy’s efforts and commitment in supporting maritime security in the region and recognized that it had been extending cooperation in diverse fields to Bahrain Defense Forces and Coast Guard.
