ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s consulate in Jeddah observed Friday as Kashmir Solidarity Day to show the resolve of their country to provide all political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Indian-administered Kashmir.

The day began with the recitation of Holy Qur’an which was followed by Pakistan’s national anthem. The participants of the event were carrying flags of Pakistan and Kashmir, as they expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people who have been living under siege since the administration in New Delhi decided to revoke the special constitutional status of the Himalayan territory.

Speaking at the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz said that Kashmiris were in a lot of distress and it was Pakistan’s responsibility to express solidarity with them.

“We stand united with them and feel the pain and trauma which they are going through,” he added. “Pakistan will provide all diplomatic, moral and political support to them.”

“As an expression of our unity to their cause,” he continued, “we have gathered here today. This day is a manifestation of our resolve that we will not remain silent until Kashmiris achieve their right of self-determination.”

The Kashmir Committee in Jeddah also met on Friday to condemn India’s recent attempts at unilaterally altering the nature of the conflict in the disputed land by changing its demographics “in violation of the relevant United Nations resolutions.”
