ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Dr. Yousaf Ahmed Al-Othaimeen at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah on Wednesday.
During their interaction, the two officials discussed matters of mutual interests.
The ambassador thanked the OIC secretary general on the continued support given to Pakistan on the Kashmir issue.
He said that the people of Pakistan greatly valued the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for taking up the Kashmir cause and projecting it on the international level.
Dr. Yousaf reiterated the OIC stance on the protracted dispute between India and Pakistan, saying it was imperative to address the Kashmir issue in accordance to the wishes of its people and the United Nations Security Council resolutions to bring about durable peace in the region.
The OIC has always supported Pakistan on Kashmir. In 1994, the organization established the OIC Contact Group on Kashmir to look into the issue and help resolve it.
The contact group regularly holds meetings. More recently, it became active after India revoked the special constitutional status of Kashmir that gave the region limited autonomy.
