ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday met the Saudi Ambassador to Islamabad Nawaf Bin Saeed Al-Maliki and said he hoped the Kingdom would take “special measures” to reemploy Pakistani workers after the coronavirus pandemic improved.
“During the meeting, bilateral relations, promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields and various issues of mutual interest were discussed,” the foreign office said in a statement. “We expect the Saudi government to take special measures to repatriate and reemploy Pakistani workers after the coronavirus epidemic improves.”
Qureshi said bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were “deep and historic” and the sanctity of the two holy shrines was a part of the faith of every Muslim.
“Pakistan will stand side by side with Saudi Arabia to safeguard Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity,” the Pakistani foreign minister was quoted as saying, adding that Pakistan strongly condemned Houthi insurgent attacks on civilians and military installations in Saudi Arabia.
Qureshi also inquired about the health of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz who was hospitalized last month.
“A large number of Pakistanis have been living in Saudi Arabia for many years and have been playing their part in the development of Saudi Arabia,” Qureshi said.
