ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s central moon-sighting committee will meet on Tuesday to decide the Eid day which will most likely be on June 5, as the country’s first moon sighting website and Hijri Calendar forecasts.

However, Pakistan’s northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa announced to observe Eid on Tuesday after accepting testimonies of Shawal moon sighting in some of the remote areas, marking the end of Ramadan.

The moon was seen in Saudia Arabia on Monday, June 3, and Eid Al-Fitr is being observed in the Kingdom, the Gulf countries and many other parts of the world on Tuesday.

Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan for Muslims and is one of the biggest Muslim festivals with congressional prayers in mosques, open areas and at community centers being its distinct feature.

Eid celebrations in Pakistan last for three days with special messages of felicitation from civilian and military leadership extended to the nation. The festival is marked with religious zeal and fervor as a time to share happy moments with loved ones.
