ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday extended greetings to Muslims around the world and pilgrims performing Hajj as he called for unity, peace and collective responsibility in a message marking the Day of Arafat, one of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar.
The Day of Arafat, observed on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah during the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, holds immense religious significance for Muslims and precedes Eid Al-Adha celebrations across the Muslim world, which begin tomorrow, Wednesday.
In a statement released by his office, the Pakistani prime minister said the annual Hajj gathering symbolized unity among Muslims and highlighted a shared sense of collective responsibility.
“This dignified gathering of Hajj reflects the mutual unity of the Muslim Ummah and the spirit of collective responsibility,” Sharif said.
“It is in this spirit of love, sacrifice and mutual cooperation that the real secret of national and collective progress and prosperity lies.”
Sharif prayed for acceptance of the pilgrims’ worship and asked for strength to uphold Islamic values in daily life. He also prayed for peace and stability around the world amid ongoing global conflicts and tensions.
“On these blessed and sacred moments of Hajj, Pakistan as a nation prays for peace, security and stability across the world,” he said.
“We pray to Allah Almighty that global peace, justice, tolerance and brotherhood are strengthened so that humanity and collective welfare may prosper.”
