ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended condolences to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi over the passing of his mother.
Heeraben Modi, mother of the Indian prime minister, died early Friday at the age of 99, India's Hindustan Times newspaper reported.
PM Sharif took to Twitter to offer his condolences to the Indian prime minister.
"There is no greater loss than losing one’s mother," the Pakistan prime minister wrote on Twitter.
"My condolences to Prime Minister @narendramodi on the passing away of his mother." Heeraben was admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad on Wednesday due to ill health, according to the Hindustan Times.
Her last rites were performed by Modi and his brothers in Gandhinagar, capital of the Indian state of Gujarat.
