ISLAMABAD: The women cricket teams of traditional rivals India and Pakistan will lock horns in their Commonwealth Games 2022 clash today, Sunday.
The blockbuster encounter will be an important clash between the two sides as Pakistan and India both lost their opening matches of the tournament to Barbados and Australia respectively.
“We will try our best to win our next match [against India],” Pakistani all-rounder Nida Dar said on Saturday. “We will try to give Pakistan a good victory.”
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament. The match is scheduled to begin at 3pm Pakistan Standard Time.
India has the advantage against Pakistan, if the team’s past record is taken into account. The two sides have played each other in T20 cricket 11 times. India, currently ranked number four in the world, have won nine times while Pakistan, ranked number seven, have won only twice.
The last time the two teams met in a T20 match was in the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Providence, Guyana. India Women won by seven wickets.
