ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Monday it “strongly condemned” an attack by Houthi militia that resulted in civilian injuries and damage to civilian property in the Jazan Region of Saudi Arabia.
The Pakistani foreign office issued a statement on Monday saying: “Pakistan reiterates its full support and solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any threats to its security and territorial integrity.”
Pakistan has recently said it called for the immediate cessation of Houthi attacks, and reiterated its “full support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia against any threats to its security and territorial integrity.”
Yemen’s Houthis have in recent years launched hundreds of missiles and drones across the border into Saudi Arabia, mostly at bordering military and civilian targets, but also at the capital.
Pakistan has recently called on all parties to the conflict in Yemen to engage in a “meaningful and peaceful dialogue” to end hostilities in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
Pakistan has also expressed concern at the recent escalation of violence in Yemen, saying the city of Marib was threatened by Houthi militias.
“We urge all parties to the conflict in Yemen, in particular the Houthis, to cease military actions, engage in a serious dialogue to end the conflict on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and respond positively to the proposals made by Martin Griffith, the United Nation's Special Envoy to Yemen,” a foreign office statement last week said.
