ISLAMABAD: Muslims across Pakistan celebrated Eid Al-Fitr on Saturday with early morning prayers and family festivities at the end of Ramadan.

Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk said the joyous occasion marks the completion of the holy month, which promotes purity, self-control, compassion and sacrifice.

“The nation should also remember today its sons who have been sacrificing their lives to safeguard the motherland,” he added.

President Mamnoon Hussain congratulated the nation and Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

“Following the teachings of Islam in the true sense can help reduce injustices in society,” he said.

Going through the spiritual experience of Ramadan “gives a realization about the difficulties (facing) weaker segments of society,” Hussain added.

Army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa said: “We owe this festivity in a peaceful environment to all our martyrs and ghazis (warriors). Salute to them. May Allah continue His blessings upon Pakistan. Amen.”
