ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has declared that the Saudi authorities have always extended full cooperation to the country on detained Pakistanis.

Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal made the declaration in response to Western media reports that Pakistan’s Embassy officials do not visit Saudi jails regularly to give consular access to detained Pakistanis.

“The rights of all prisoners are secured, and the Government of Saudi Arabia ensures facilitation of inmates as per international laws regarding living facilities, quality food, consular assistance and presence in court on dates of hearings,” the spokesman said at his weekly briefing.

He said that the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate General in Jeddah are working with the Saudi authorities to extend all possible assistance to them.
