ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council on Thursday announced that Pakistan's Nida Dar had become the country's first cricketer, male or female, to take more than 100 wickets in T20 internationals.
Dar accomplished the feat while playing a match against West Indies, though the rival team managed to defeat Pakistan by 10 runs.
The 34-year-old right-arm bowler took 2 for 15, taking her tally to 101 wickets in international T20 tournaments.
She is now among six world cricketers who have achieved this milestone.
In a brief video interview on social media, the Pakistani bowler said it took a lot of “hard work” to get more than 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
She said that she had set the objective for herself from the beginning of her career, though she also regretted that her team could not win the match.
Pakistan’s top wicket takers in T20 internationals include Shahid Afridi (97), Umar Gul (85), Saeed Ajmal (85) and Muhammad Amir (59).
Nida Dar was born in 1987 and has played 106 T20 international matches. She has also contributed 1161 runs to her team’s total in these contests.
