ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, on Thursday, launched another short-range surface-to-surface missile called ‘Nasr’ during an Army Strategic Forces Command training exercise, said a statement released by the military’s media wing.
“The first phase of the test included a quad salvo and single launches while the second phase was aimed at testing the extreme inflight maneuverability, including end flight maneuverability capable of defeating any currently available BMD (Ballistic Missile Defense) system in Pakistan’s neighborhood or any other system being procured or developed,” said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairperson General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Strategic Plans Division Director General, NESCOM Chairman, ASFC Commander, and senior officers, as well as scientists and engineers from strategic organizations, were present during the launch.
General Hayat lauded the participating troops, scientists and engineers on achieving yet another milestone of national significance towards Pakistan’s strategic deterrence capability.
The JCS chairperson also “praised the professional attributes and dedicated efforts of all those concerned and said it was their hard work, which made the successful launch of the weapon system possible,” added the statement.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and services chiefs congratulated the scientists, engineers and participating troops on their outstanding achievement.
