ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noorul Haq Qadri announced on Friday that the government wanted to build a Qur’an complex in the federal capital to preserve historical manuscripts of the Muslim scripture.
Talking to a group of journalists after attending an exhibition in Islamabad, he said that the authorities were also interested in publishing a new translation of the holy book that was acceptable to all Islamic schools of thought.
According to state-owned media outlets, Qadri maintained that his ministry was trying to ensure error-free publication of the Qur’an by recycling worn pages of the book in a systematic way.
He added that a ban had already been imposed on printing the holy verses from the book on inferior quality paper.
