ISLAMABAD: The governor of Pakistan’s Sindh province, Imran Ismail, announced on Friday that the federal government would set up soup kitchens under its flagship Ehsaas program to help the needy in the province.

Ismail made the announcement at the Governor House in Karachi while interacting with the management of a local welfare organization.

According to the local media, the governor praised the Ehsaas program and said it would turn the country into a welfare state along the lines of the first Muslim state of Madinah.

The local welfare organization briefed him on its charity work, saying its management was planning to install 112 water filtration plants in the province.

Other than that, it would also set up five soup kitchens in Karachi.
