ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JSCS) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza inaugurated Pakistan’s stall at the World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and held meetings with some of the top officials in the kingdom.
The World Defense Show is a biennial military exhibition held in Riyadh to highlight the technological developments in the global defense sector. Pakistan maintains close military ties with the kingdom and has provided training to a number of Saudi soldiers and pilots in recent decades.
According to an official statement released by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Mirza also discussed issues related to bilateral security cooperation between the two countries.
“General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, while on official visit to KSA, in connection with 2nd World Defense Show called on His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Minister of Defense, KSA and discussed strategic / security issues and opportunities to enhance defense cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” the statement said.
“The Chairman JCSC also visited stalls of different organizations from Pakistan and inaugurated Al-Fatah-II Missile stall at World Defense Show,” it added.
Last December, Pakistan successfully tested the indigenously developed Fatah-II guided multi-launch rocket system, with the army saying it had an advanced navigation system and could hit a target within 400 kilometers.
General Mirza also held meetings with General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, the kingdom’s chief of general staff, and Lieutenant General Fahad bin Abdullah AL-Muter, who heads the Royal Saudi Land Forces.
