RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Monday the dividends of an improved internal security situation in Pakistan must reach ordinary Pakistanis through socioeconomic development.
The army chief was addressing the 2018th Corps Commanders Conference at the army headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The forum reviewed the geo-strategic environment and security situation of the country and expressed satisfaction over the improved internal security situation and progress on regional peace initiatives, especially the Afghan reconciliation process. The conference also discussed the situation along the Line of Control and Working Boundary with India, continued ceasefire violations, Indian atrocities against innocent Kashmiris and expressed solidarity with resilient Kashmiri people on the eve of Kashmir Day.
“While safeguarding the borders and carrying on the ongoing stability operations through Radd ul Fassad (military operation), concurrent focus is now to be on strategising and implementing comprehensive national response against machinations by hostile intelligence agencies / inimical forces to undo the national gains for peace and stability," the army said in a statement. "The dividends of improved internal security situation must reach out to people of Pakistan through socioeconomic development.
