Girl, 5, falls to her death from third floor in mall

JEDDAH: A five-year-old girl, Fay, fell to her death from the third floor at the Rashid shopping mall in Jazan, sparking safety concerns at malls.
The girl was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital, and the funeral prayer was offered on Monday evening.
The girl had gone to the mall with her mother, her aunt and some of their children, the child’s grandmother told local media. “The girl got away from her mother and suddenly fell through the barriers of the third floor stairs. She fell on her head on the ground floor.”
Noor Ahmed, a Saudi resident, expressed sadness at the tragedy and said: “The mall administrators should know that kids also come … they should have made the mall much safer.”
Witnesses said that the mother was inconsolable and entered a state of hysteria when she saw her child lying in a pool of blood.
