RIYADH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) operates 383 ambulance centers in 13 regions of the Kingdom, the authority's annual report has stated.
The Riyadh region has the highest number of SRCA-operated centers at 77, or 20 percent of the total centers in the Kingdom, the report said.
Makkah came in at the second spot in terms of number of such centers at 71 (19 percent), followed by Eastern Province (54) and Madinah (30). Najran region has the lowest number of 12 centers (3 percent), the report said.
The Saudi Red Crescent works persistently to end or alleviate human sufferings without discrimination, the SRCA said.
The missions of the SRCA are diverse and readily available in times of peace and war to provide emergency medical services, respond to disaster cases and contribute to provide Saudi relief work.
In addition to the above-mentioned services, the SRCA provides health, emergency and medical services to Haj pilgrims. The SRCA also effectively contributes to training community members in first-aid programs, how to respond to disaster cases and encourage them to get involved in voluntary work.

Saudi deputy ministers receive Swedish ambassador and UNDP representative
Saud Al-Sati, Saudi Arabia’s deputy minister for political affairs, received Sweden’s Ambassador to the Kingdom Petra Menander in Riyadh.
Separately, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Development Affairs Abdullah bin Zarah received the UN Development Programme’s resident representative in the Kingdom, Nahid Hussein, in Riyadh.
During the meetings, all sides discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interest, the foreign ministry said on X on Wednesday.
