JEDDAH: To take optimum advantage of blessings and spiritual benefits of the holy month of Ramadan, the Nafa Charitable Society in cooperation with Al-Saggaf Eye Center launched a campaign for free eye checks at different mosques in Jeddah after Taraweeh prayer.
The initiative that involves a mobile eye clinic is designed to help visually impaired people under the slogan “Your eyes are our eyes.”
Saeed bin Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, director of the charitable organization, said they are offering more than 1,500 free checkups at different mosques in the city during Ramadan to benefit the visually impaired as part of their social responsibility mandate.
The campaign has been launched at Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib mosque, Iban Al-Qeem mosque in Al-Rawabi district, Al-Hammoudi mosque and Abu Dhar Al-Ghafari mosque in Al-Fayhaa district, Al Shabi mosque in Salam district, and Sharbatly mosque in the Safa district.
Al-Zahrani said that more than 300 people have already benefited from the campaign since its launch a few days ago, adding that the campaign is going smoothly in coordination with mosque authorities.
Other provinces too, he said, are in need of such mobile clinics as well, because eyes are delicate parts of the human body are prone to diseases faster than one can imagine.
Speaking about Al-Saggaf Eye Center, he said it places high values on eye treatment in general, adding that launch of this campaign speaks volumes of the center’s bearing social responsibility toward society.
The initiative also reflects the deep relationships between charities and the private sector, as the presence of such services will enhance the level of health services and other social services in the Kingdom, especially for orphans, poor and needy families, families of prisoners and divorcees, according to Al-Zahrani.
