Vision 2030 ‘greatest event since KSA unification’

JEDDAH: Saudi female students from Makkah have expressed optimism over the Vision 2030 plan, saying that it will increase the sources of income, create job opportunities and bring about a real change in the Kingdom.
Samar Mohammed, a university student, termed the plan “a move in the right direction.” “The vision will help overall development, boost government services and herald a promising future, as the Kingdom won’t have to rely on oil as the main source of revenue,” she was quoted as saying by local media on Saturday.
Dina Yaqoob, another university student, said the citizen will be the primary partner to realize the vision and develop all areas of the economy. “Our leadership is ambitious and has all elements of the development process. I live today in an atmosphere of great optimism. All Saudis aspire to promote the homeland.”
Maha Saad, also a university student, said that the vision includes all components, mechanisms and pathways for national transformation. “Vision 2030 will be the greatest event since the unification of the Kingdom. It aims to promote society and combat unemployment. It will make the current and future generations a human wealth power.”
Meanwhile, a huge number of citizens welcomed the plan with “Thank you” messages on social media. Those posting reactions on Twitter included 83 percent males and 17 percent females, with 52 percent of the responses made through the hashtag “Thank you, Mohammed bin Salman.”
Hundreds of Saudis sent thank you messages to the deputy crown prince, the architect of the plan.
One Yasmin posted a message stating: “Thank you, Prince of Youth, may God protect and help you on your course of action.”
Another citizen, Dr. Samir, said the deputy crown prince has developed an “astute ... economic vision” for the country.

Rainfed agriculture booms 1,100% under Saudi rural development initiative

  • It is one of eight agricultural segments receiving program support

RIYADH: The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as Saudi Reef, has announced exceptional growth in its rainfed crops sector, one of eight agricultural segments receiving program support, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The sector has registered extraordinary expansion, surpassing 1,100 percent, with participant numbers climbing to over 13,300 beneficiaries nationwide.

Program spokesman Majed Al-Buraikan identified rainfed agriculture as a cornerstone of Saudi Reef’s achievements, highlighting its role in boosting production efficiency, bolstering food security and self-reliance, enabling sustainable farming in water-scarce regions, and raising income levels and quality of life for smallholder farmers — all consistent with Vision 2030 priorities.

Al-Buraikan outlined the program’s principal aims, including broadening the agricultural production foundation, securing food independence across multiple crop categories, enhancing smallholder farmer prosperity and employment prospects to foster social cohesion, and safeguarding environmental and natural resources throughout rural Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Reef extends support and technical assistance across eight distinct sectors: honey production, fruit cultivation, coffee production, rose farming, rainfed crops, livestock raising, artisanal fishing, and value-added agricultural products.
