Death certificates said Jazan fire victims died of ‘natural causes’

JAZAN: Relatives of the fire victims of the Jazan General Hospital received death certificates of their relatives, which said they "died naturally.”
This prompted the special committee and the central management of the hospital to rework the certificates to emphasize that the victims actually died as a result of suffocation from carbon monoxide.
The relatives later returned objecting to the place of death being mentioned as King Fahd Central Hospital. They want the place of death to be precisely written as Jazan General Hospital, according to an online newspaper.
A man said he received the body of his relative on Tuesday after signing the papers which indicated that the death was natural. He did this to “maintain the dignity of the dead by burying him.”
Others accused the administration of the hospital and the special committee in charge of handing over of bodies of delay and noncooperation. Some received the bodies with certificates that said the place of death would be mentioned later.
Mohammad Al-Fifi, who lost his mother in the incident, told the newspaper that the death certificate said the cause of her death was "due to an inflammation." Another person said that body of his father was still in the mortuary.
Mohammad Shaban said that the death certificate of one of his relatives said that she died due to a "fall in blood pressure and heart attack" and that she died at King Fahd Hospital.
Many relatives of victims said they received the bodies for swift burial as the hospital did not want them to remain in mortuaries.
Some families spoke during a talk show on Al Ekhbariya TV channel, saying that a security member tried to get them to sign the death reports and not a member of the Health Ministry, but they refused to sign.
They said they have wired a request to Jazan Gov. Prince Mohammad bin Nasser to intervene and safeguard the lawful rights of the families of the deceased.
The committees formed to probe the incident of fire is investigating the case and is expected to give its verdict soon.
