RIYADH: In a festive and colorful atmosphere, the Egyptian Cultural Office in Riyadh on Thursday organized a major celebration to coincide with the opening of the new Suez Canal in Egypt.
The event, under the slogan “Egyptians defy time and make history,” attracted huge numbers of participants from the Egyptian community in the Kingdom and other guests who came to share joy and happiness.
Mohamed Osman Elkhosht, cultural counselor of Egypt in Saudi Arabia, said: “We called and invited all Egyptians from all parts of the Kingdom, the Saudi brothers and embassies in Saudi Arabia and members of the communities to share their joy with us on this great and outstanding event.”
Elkhosht pointed out that the office has prepared an exhibition on this occasion to show the history and developmental stages of the Suez Canal. Nehad M., an Egyptian lady, said that she was deeply pleased of having joined the Egyptian community on this occasion and, even, more proud of this new project which will push the Egyptian economy forward.
Mahmoud T., an Egyptian citizen, said that the new expansion of the Suez Canal reflects future dreams and aspirations of all Egyptians all over the world.
Hefni Khaleifa, an Egyptian poet, said being present at this celebration in the holy land of Saudi Arabia makes him more proud, especially as the two countries enjoy historic relations.
Motlaq M., a Saudi citizen, said that he is so happy with the opening of new Suez Canal that he joined the Egyptian community to celebrate this glorious event, adding that he considers Egypt his second country.

Jeddah governor attends ceremony marking Kuwait National Day

JEDDAH: Jeddah Gov. Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi attended a ceremony in Jeddah on Sunday to mark Kuwait’s National Day.
Prince Saud was received by Kuwait’s Consul General Yousef Abdullah Al-Tunaib and other consulate officials, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Fareed bin Saad Al-Shehri, director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Makkah, and members of the diplomatic corps, were also in attendance.
