Civil Affairs launches ‘Ashir’ service

Civil Affairs has widened its services to people with hearing and sight disabilities, launching a service called Ashir (sign) in all its branches throughout the Kingdom.
The service's first step will be a guiding index related to its use, including vocabulary which has been interoperated into sign language under the supervision of a sign language expert committee.
The next stages include employee training to provide this service to the public, as well as providing the use of a tablet to offer instant translations.
“We are expanding the launch of this service to Civil Defense branches in various parts of the country to reach the largest number of beneficiaries,” Mohammad Al-Jasir, Civil Affairs’ spokesman, told local media. “This project will raise the quality of services and facilitate all the procedures,” he added.
