Ministry of Labor announces new regulations for work-from-home jobs

A senior Labor Ministry official has revealed new regulations for telecommuting, or work-from-home jobs for women.
Dr. Fahad Al-Takhifi, manager of special programs at the ministry, said rules about work conduct and penalties related to work-from-home jobs have been specified.
According to Al-Takhafi, the ministry’s programs regarding women’s employment include job search support and a system to help women find it.
Women have priority to be employed in activities that suit them if employers can provide them with a suitable work environment, the official said.
He stressed that the ministry laid out a number of rules and regulations that provide a work environment that suits women and their privacy, the official commented. Al-Takhafi also added that companies should provide women with a rest area to be used during breaks and prayer times, in addition to their own toilets.
Wasim Khashoggi of Modon told Arab News that by 2020 more than 30,000 job opportunities would be provided for Saudi youth. He claimed that trained and distinguished talents will be accepted by investors and establishments in Saudi financial cities.
Executive director for Khadija bint Khowailid, Basmah Al-Omair, discussed the issue of working from home and how it benefits a number of communities, such as villages and governorates that don’t have major factories or companies.
Director general of the Human Resource Development Fund demanded all ministries such as commerce, telecommunication, municipal and rural affairs and the telecommunication commission, to support telecommuting.
