Business relationships between Germany and Saudi Arabia are receiving a further boost as Lufthansa German Airlines offer their largest schedule ever with a total of 24 weekly departures from Saudi Arabia.
Lufthansa thus provides a seamless connection between the key cities of Saudi Arabia and the airline’s hubs in Frankfurt and Munich bringing more travelers closer together to do business or leisure.
The airline offers daily services between Dammam and Frankfurt. Additionally, Lufthansa flies daily between Jeddah and Frankfurt, daily between Riyadh and Frankfurt and three times weekly between Riyadh and Munich.
Over the years, Lufthansa has increased its presence in Saudi Arabia in a steady manner.
The airline first operated its flight almost 54 years ago from Dhahran in 1960 followed by Jeddah in 1969 and Riyadh in 1987. In 2009, the German airline upgraded its services from Riyadh and Jeddah to a daily flight on each route. In April 2010, it introduced three weekly flights between Riyadh and its Munich gateway in southern Germany.
Throughout, Lufthansa stayed a reliable partner in connecting the Central area of the Arabian Gulf with Europe and beyond.
Lufthansa expects the passenger numbers between both countries will climb above 200,000 passengers this year. Via Europe’s most punctual hub in Frankfurt business and leisure travelers from the Kingdom can reach over 200 destinations in 80 countries.
In total, Lufthansa serves 14 destinations in 11 countries in the Middle East. In addition to the Saudi flight plan, Lufthansa flies double daily to Dubai.
Daily services are operated to Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Muscat, Doha and Bahrain.
“The strong connection between our countries and the international business community will continue to grow,” said Harald Hahn, Lufthansa German Airlines director for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen.
“We are thankful for a good cooperation with our partners and passengers in the Kingdom. Most of all, we are thankful to our passengers who receive our flights to Frankfurt and Munich very well. They know that Lufthansa offers more connections to Europe, North America and beyond than any other carrier,” said Harald Hahn.
“The good news is that, globally, our group is on a fleet expansion and another 295 airplanes are on order, valued at more than 36 billion Euros at list prices and scheduled for delivery until 2025,” said Hahn.
“We are pleased to be the launch customer of the ultra-modern Boeing 777-9x and will fly the new Airbus A350-900 from 2016. Further, we are soon introducing the new Premium Economy which will debut in our Boeing 747-8
Lufthansa’s Premium Economy Class creates a completely new travel experience that combines affordability with greater comfort,” he said.
The seats offer up to 50 percent more room than Economy Class and will position the airline in a premium segment within the international competitive environment.
The new product will enable Lufthansa to meet the requirements of many business and private passengers who travel with other airlines in a similar travel class or who fly Economy Class due to travel specifications.
Following the introduction of its new full-flat Business Class, Lufthansa created a much wider gap between Economy and Business Class.
As a result, there is now room for its new Premium Economy Class, which offers considerably more space and comfort as well as many additional product features, but is closer to Economy Class than Business Class in terms of its average prices.
The move also means that Lufthansa is introducing a completely new travel class for the first time in 35 years.
With a baggage allowance of two items weighing up to 23 kilogrammes each, passengers can take twice as much free luggage with them compared with Economy Class.
