Nepal envoy promotes Himalayan attractions

The Embassy of Nepal felicitated Prince Bandar bin Khalid bin Fahd at a function held in Riyadh recently and took the opportunity to promote tourism in the Himalayan Kingdom.
Prince Bandar, who scaled Mt. Everest on May 19, 2012, praised the natural beauty of Nepal and thanked the people of Nepal for making his mountaineering experience successful. He screened a video of his climbing Mt. Everest and explained how he succeeded in climbing the highest mountain in the world within a short span of time.
Ambassador of Nepal Udaya Raj Pandey presented a letter of honor and memento to the prince and applauded his achievement.
He highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries and stressed the importance of people to people contact. “Apart from high level visits, I am very hopeful that the visits of the people from both sides regardless of their purpose, such as recreation, education etc. will ultimately strengthen relations between the two nations,” he said.
Deputy Chief of Mission Harishchandra Ghimire welcomed the guests and highlighted the tourism attractions of Nepal.
Second Secretary Kul Bahadur Magar emphasized the shared responsibilities of all to preserve and promote the Himalayan ranges, including its highest peaks.
A video was shown on the occasion highlighting adventures such as mountaineering, trekking, rafting, bungee jumping, wild safari, paragliding, and kayaking. The function was attended by Saudi government officials, travel agencies, tour operators, community members and the media.

UK foreign secretary condemns Iranian attacks during Riyadh meeting with Saudi counterpart

RIYADH: The Saudi foreign minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and his British counterpart Yvette Cooper discussed Saudi-British ties and the latest regional developments during talks in Riyadh on Thursday.

During their meeting at the Foreign Ministry headquarters they discussed joint efforts to address the recent events in the region, the ministry said, and Cooper expressed the UK’s condemnation of what she described as brutal attacks by Iran against the Kingdom and other countries.

She reaffirmed Britain’s solidarity with the targeted nations and stressed the need for coordinated international efforts to guide the region toward stability and peace.

The ministers also reviewed the strategic relationship between their countries, and opportunities for enhanced cooperation, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The Foreign Ministry’s undersecretary for political affairs, Saud Al-Sati, was also present at the meeting.
