The tapes released Tuesday by the Orange County sheriff’s
department include two calls from people on the Sunday afternoon tour.
One caller told a dispatcher that 35-year-old Sloane Briles “has
been bad on our whole trip.” Another caller said she thought Briles was “drunk
and violent” after seeing him toss his son overboard.
Authorities say Briles was arguing with his girlfriend and
son and threatened to throw the boy overboard if he didn’t stop crying. The
child was rescued by another boater.
Briles was arrested on child endangerment and resisting
arrest charges.
