JEDDAH: A leading medical professional has expressed concerns that doctors in the Arab world are not detecting the signs of cancer early enough.

Dr. Abdul Wahab Abdul Qader Andijani, chairman of Princess Noura Oncology Center at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City for National Guard was speaking at a two-day world conference on breast cancer, which ended on Wednesday.

“In the West most cancer cases are detected early enough for treatment thanks to its health awareness,” he said. He added that many doctors in Arab world are not familiar with the importance of early detection of cancer.
