JEDDAH, 5 December 2007 — The Saudi Football League resumes today with three matches taking place.

In the first match, Al-Watani host Al-Hilal in Tabuk. Hilal will try to secure the game three points to advance to the upper reaches of the team standings.

Hilal defeated Watani in the first round 5-0. This, however, does not mean that Al-Watani will be an easy prey for Hilal since Watani managed to upset top teams and are currently in the third place with 15 points.

In all likelihood, the match will not be easy for Hilal since Al-Watani have the support of their home crowd. Hilal are in fifth position with 13 points with 5 matches in hand because of the team’s participation in international and regional events. Al-Watani are expected to go all out to defeat Hilal to strengthen their position in the team standings.

The second match pits the two wounded teams Al-Ittifaq and Taie. Despite the fact that Ittifaq advanced into the final of the Gulf Cup Championship they suffered a 4-1 upset against Al-Nasr last week. Ittifaq will try to bounce back from that defeat and secure the game three points against a Taie side that is dangerously positioned in the 11th position with mere 3 points. Ittifaq are in the fourth position with 14 points.

The last match is between Shabab and Nasr in Riyadh. Shabab lost the last match last week against Al-Watani 1-0 and are looking to compensate the loss and secure the game three points against Nasr.

Nasr, on the other hand, are expected to ride the momentum of the huge 4-1 win against Ittifaq 4-1 last week in a bid to consolidate their hold on fifth position with 14 points. Shabab are second with 15 points.
