JIZAN, 3 July 2006 — Some men would jump head first at the chance of their wives offering to find a second wife, but one husband in Jizan refused his 30-year-old wife’s offer to find him a second wife point-blank, the Okaz daily reported. The man was thoroughly happy with his wife and insisted he didn’t need to marry again saying he couldn’t afford the dowry and expensive gifts. The woman was not put off and promised to meet all the expenses of a second wife by selling her own jewelry. Finally seeing no chance of wriggling out of the situation the man acceded and the wedding was held on Thursday. Perhaps the first wife just couldn’t handle an over-devoted simpleton of a husband.
