RAIF: Set amid the mountainous landscape of Maysan governorate in the Makkah region, rose farms thrive in the area’s mild climate, fertile soil and abundant seasonal rainfall.
The farms have become a popular destination during the blooming season, when the fragrance of roses blends with the mountain scenery, highlighting the governorate’s agricultural heritage and tourism appeal.
Scattered across mountain slopes and valleys, the farms cultivate Taif and Sultani roses, reflecting Maysan’s agricultural diversity. Surrounded by misty peaks and cool mountain breezes, they attract nature lovers, photographers and rural tourism enthusiasts.
Farmer Mohammed Al-Harthi said that Maysan’s moderate mountain climate provided ideal conditions for healthy rose cultivation throughout the season.
He said that peak production was in April, when the flowers bloom in abundance and harvesting begins at first light to preserve their quality and fragrance.
Al-Harthi said that Maysan produces both Taif and Sultani roses, prized for their quality and distinctive aroma. During the flowering season, visitors come to the farms to learn about rose cultivation and harvesting while enjoying the mountain landscape south of Taif.
The farms have become a major stop for travelers along the scenic tourist route south of Taif, offering an experience that combines nature, agriculture and local heritage while supporting rural tourism in the governorate.
