Pakistan eyes potential export agreements as global textile trade show kicks off in New York

  • Five Pakistani companies are taking part in Texworld NYC 2026 global trade show, says Pakistani embassy in US
  • Pakistan attaches particular importance to textile sector, which generated $18 billion in export earnings last year

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani companies are taking part in the ongoing Texworld NYC 2026 textile trade show in New York, the Pakistani embassy in the United States (US) said this week, as Islamabad eyes potential export agreements with international buyers to expand its footprint in the country and earn valuable foreign exchange.

Texworld NYC is considered one of the largest textile sourcing events on the East Coast, featuring exhibitors around the world that offer apparel fabrics, sustainable and eco-friendly textile products, ready-made garments and leather and accessories. The event connects exhibitors and attendees from around the world. The three-day event is taking place in New York from July 29-31. This year’s exhibition features over 425 international exhibitors who will take part in hands-on workshops, educational programming and other networking opportunities related to textile.

Pakistan attaches particular importance to textiles as it is the country’s largest export sector and a key source of jobs and foreign exchange. Pakistan’s textile industry generated $18 billion in export earnings last year, according to official data. The US is one of the most popular textile export destinations for the South Asian country, along with Europe and other countries.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion on Wednesday. As per the embassy’s statement, Pakistani companies are exhibiting a diverse range of value-added products, including home textiles, towels, ready-made garments, leather apparel, sportswear, gloves and other high-quality products.

“During the three-day exhibition, participating Pakistani companies will also hold business-to-business (B2B) meetings with international buyers, importers, and industry representatives,” the Pakistani embassy said in a statement on Wednesday.

“These engagements are expected to pave the way for new commercial partnerships, stronger business linkages, and potential export agreements.”

Sheikh visited stalls set up by the Pakistani companies and discussed business opportunities in the US market with them, the embassy said. He also exchanged views with the exhibitors on the US market access, export promotion and prospects for enhanced trade cooperation with participating exporters.

Sheikh said Islamabad, the Pakistani embassy and the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York would continue to provide every possible support to Pakistani exporters in expanding their access to the US market. He reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening trade relations between Pakistan and the US, increasing Pakistan’s exports and further enhancing the global recognition and visibility of the “Made in Pakistan” brand through coordinated efforts.

“Pakistan’s strong participation in the exhibition highlights the country’s production capabilities, quality standards, and export potential in the textile and value-added sectors,” the Pakistani embassy said. “It also provides Pakistani companies with an important platform to establish new business relationships with international buyers and further expand their presence in the US market.”
