PESHAWAR: More than 325,000 Pakistanis have registered for Hajj between 2027 and 2030 through the country’s digital registration system, the Ministry of Religious Affairs said on Wednesday, as authorities continue preparations for future pilgrimages under a new multi-year framework.
Pakistan began mandatory registration for intending pilgrims on June 22 before the federal cabinet approved the country’s first four-year Hajj policy earlier this month, eliminating the need for prospective pilgrims to register every year.
“The number of intending pilgrims registered through the Hajj portal developed by the National IT Board has exceeded 325,000, with around 283,000 registering through the portal and another 43,000 through the ‘Pak Hajj’ mobile application,” the ministry said in a statement.
The statement said about 235,000 applicants chose the government Hajj scheme while nearly 90,000 opted for the private scheme.
The registered applicants include about 191,000 men and 134,000 women.
“Online Hajj registration will continue until further notice,” the statement said.
It added the National IT Board had developed an online system for collecting Hajj payments, saying that details of Hajj packages and the payment mechanism would be announced soon.
