DUBAI: Shakira is set to return to Egypt for the first time in almost two decades with a concert at the Pyramids of Giza on Nov. 28.

The Colombian superstar will perform at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in a show organized by Venture Lifestyle, marking her first appearance in the country since her 2007 performance at the same location.

The concert follows a series of international events produced by the entertainment company, which has previously brought artists including Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Katy Perry and Demi Lovato to the Middle East.

Shakira’s return comes during her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” era, following the release of her latest album and a string of performances around the world. Across a career spanning more than 30 years, the singer has sold more than 95 million records, won multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, and remains one of Latin music’s most successful global stars.

She recently released “Dai Dai,” which features on the FIFA World Cup official track list.

Speaking in a released statement, Shakira said: “I’m very happy to be performing in Egypt, at the Pyramids of Giza. I love you all.”
