ISLAMABAD: More than 232,000 citizens have completed their online registration to perform Hajj next year during the first 14 days of the campaign, state media reported this week as Islamabad prepares in advance for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
Pakistan’s government launched the mandatory registration for Hajj 2027 in June, a month after Hajj 2026 concluded in Saudi Arabia with millions of Muslims taking part in the annual Islamic pilgrimage. Pakistan was allocated a quota of 179,210 pilgrims, one of the largest in the world, with pilgrims traveling under both the government and private schemes.
The registration process is being carried out through the National Information Technology Board’s (NITB) mobile application, Pak Hajj app, and the online Hajj Portal. This enables applicants to complete the entire process from their homes, without needing to visit banks or government offices.
“More than 232,000 intending pilgrims have completed their online registration for next year’s Hajj during the first 14 days of the registration campaign,” state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.
It said 175,000 applicants opted for the government scheme while approximately 58,000 registered under the private Hajj scheme, adding that out of the total registered applicants, 136,000 are men while nearly 96,000 are women.
Pakistani authorities have warned aspiring pilgrims that it is mandatory for them to ensure their passports are valid till Nov. 26, 2027, for them to be able to perform the pilgrimage next year.
The religious affairs ministry has said that details regarding the Hajj 2027 package costs, including the terms and conditions, will be announced later under the forthcoming Hajj policy.
Pakistan’s religious affairs ministry said earlier this year that it has sought an increase to around 230,000 pilgrims for Hajj 2027, saying it would better reflect Pakistan’s population. Saudi Arabia has yet to announce next year’s Hajj quotas.
