Some places are so good you hesitate to share them, worried they will no longer feel like a hidden discovery. Melted Butter Bakery is one of those places.
Owned by a husband-and-wife team, this Riyadh bakery has quickly earned a loyal following thanks to its commitment to quality, fresh ingredients and carefully crafted baked goods.
From the moment you walk in, the warm atmosphere and inviting aroma make it clear that this is more than just another cafe.
The standout item was the focaccia chicken sandwich, which comprised flavorful fillings packed between fresh slices of bread in a way that lingered in memory long after the meal ended. The coffee was equally impressive, while the matcha was among the smoothest and most balanced I have tried in Riyadh.
The croissant was a pleasant surprise — crispy on the outside, flaky throughout and rich with buttery flavor. We also sampled the cheese croissant and a soft baguette, both of which were fresh and expertly made. The caramel macchiato was another highlight.
Not everything was perfect. The pain au chocolat did not reach the same standard as the other pastries, tasting slightly overproofed with a subtle sour note.
The Korean garlic bread was enjoyable but lacked the authenticity I expected. The hot chocolate also left room for improvement and would benefit from a richer cocoa flavor.
Service was somewhat slow during one visit, and parking can be challenging, although nearby spaces were available. The indoor seating area, however, offers a comfortable setting for those looking to relax with a coffee and pastry.
What sets Melted Butter apart is its focus on craftsmanship. Rather than following trends, the bakery feels like an artisan workshop dedicated to original recipes and quality ingredients.
While prices are on the higher side, they are in line with what one would expect from a specialty bakery and cafe. For those seeking exceptional pastries, excellent matcha and a cozy atmosphere, Melted Butter is well worth a visit.
I have officially found a new favorite in Riyadh, and I will certainly be returning to explore more of the menu.
