ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Army team has secured the top position at the International Pacesticking Competition 2026 held in the United Kingdom (UK), the Pakistani military said on Friday.
The military drill and ceremonial skills competition features teams from military academies and armed forces from around the world competing in precision marching, drill movements, pace-stick handling, and military leadership skills.
The nine-member Pakistan Army team made a clean sweep at the prestigious competition and secured all major honors, including 1st Overall Team Trophy, Best Pace Sticker and Best Driver awards, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“A total of 16 international teams from different armies participated in the fiercely competed annual event,” the ISPR said in a statement. “The Pakistan Army team’s victory is reflective of the highest standards of professional training, excellence and dedication maintained by the Armed Forces of Pakistan.”
Pakistani military contingents regularly take part in joint military exercises and professional competitions to demonstrate and hone their professional skills.
In October last year, a Pakistan Army team won the gold medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2025 in Wales, regarded as one of the world’s most challenging military endurance tests that requires participants to move tactically across rugged terrain, covering a distance of 60 kilometers within 48 hours while performing specialist tasks in a simulated combat environment.
The Pakistani contingent was awarded the gold medal for what the ISPR described as “exceptional performance.”
“It is indeed a proud moment for the whole Nation and Pakistan Army which is known for its professionalism and highest standards of training,” it said at the time.
