Pakistan to begin mandatory registration for Hajj 2027 this month

  • Religious affairs ministry urges pilgrims to ensure passports are valid till Nov. 16, 2027
  • Registration will also be mandatory for overseas Pakistanis intending to perform Hajj

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) said on Tuesday that Islamabad would begin mandatory registration for Hajj 2027 later this month, urging all intending pilgrims to ensure their passports are valid till November next year.

The annual Islamic pilgrimage culminated in Saudi Arabia last month, with millions of Muslims performing the Hajj. Pakistan was granted a quota of 179,210 Hajj pilgrims, one of the largest in the world, with pilgrims traveling under both the government and private schemes.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) said in a statement on Tuesday that preparations for Hajj 2027 would begin immediately in line with instructions from Saudi authorities.

“The Ministry of Religious Affairs has indicated that mandatory registration for Hajj 2027 will begin later this month,” MoRA said.

“A valid Pakistani passport will be mandatory for Hajj 2027 registration,” it added.

The ministry said passports must remain valid until Nov. 16, 2027, advising prospective pilgrims to obtain or renew their Pakistani passports “as soon as possible.”

“Registered applicants will have the option to participate in either the government or private Hajj scheme,” the ministry said.

“Registration will also be mandatory for overseas Pakistanis intending to perform Hajj.”

MoRA said details regarding Hajj package costs as well as terms and conditions will be announced later under the forthcoming Hajj policy.
