Pakistani charity distributes meat of sacrificial animals among Gazans on Eid Al-Adha

  • Israel has killed over 70,000 Palestinians since it launched a war on Gaza in Oct. 2023
  • Pakistani charity says it will ‘continue to spread happiness on faces of Gaza affectees’

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani charity, Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF), has sacrificed over 900 animals in Egypt on Eid Al-Adha and distributed their meat among the war-torn people of Gaza, the charity said on Thursday.

Pakistan has consistently voiced its support for Palestinians ever since Israel launched a war on Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, which has killed over 70,000 Palestinians. As per international media reports, Israel has killed over 900 people since its ceasefire with Hamas took place in Oct. last year.

Eid Al-Adha, one of the two most important festivals in Islam that marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, began on May 27 and is observed by Muslims worldwide through prayers and the ritual sacrifice of animals to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son on Allah’s command.

The AKF said it aimed to bring some relief and joy to thousands of Palestinian refugees sheltering in Egypt near the Gaza border by distributing meat of 950 sacrificial animals and Eid gifts among orphans, widows and families affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

“We will continue to spread happiness on the faces of the Gaza affectees,” said AKF President Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman, who made a detailed visit to slaughterhouses in Egypt that were processing meat for distribution among displaced Gazans.

Rehman reviewed arrangements for the preparation, packaging and safe delivery of meat, and held meetings with refugee families from Gaza, who were being hosted and sponsored by AKF in Egypt, according to the charity.

“As always, this time too, the people of Pakistan have shown their undying love for their Palestinian brothers and sisters and have dedicated their sacrifices to them,” he said. “Al-Khidmat Foundation is delivering these trusts of the Pakistani people to Gaza affectees with utmost transparency and full responsibility.”

Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza in Oct. 2023, AKF has been involved in sending dozens of shipments to the territory that carried food, water and humanitarian relief items, in coordination with Pakistani authorities.

Pakistan, which does not recognize Israel and calls for an independent Palestinian state, also established the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza to support the war-torn and has continued to raise voice against Israeli actions at international forums.
