ALKHOBAR: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, or Ithra, has launched a special Eid Al-Adha program featuring more than 30 cultural activities and experiences from May 28 to 31.
Held under the theme “Ithra Eid: Moments We Share,” the celebrations will transform Ithra into cultural hubs inspired by six cultures from across the Islamic world.
Visitors will begin their journey at the plaza with the “Story in the Scent” experience, exploring fragrances inspired by Saudi cities, from bakhoor to floral blends, and learning the art of scent mixing that captures Eid traditions.
At the “Grandma’s Eid Tales” corner, visitors can create a live mural using virtual reality, blending nostalgic Eid memories with digital storytelling.
For three days, Ithra Theater will host Gulf singer Humoud AlKhudher, returning with a live performance celebrating Eid through music and uplifting melodies.
Visitor Reem Al-Qahtani told Arab News: “We always wait for Ithra’s Eid programs because they feel different every year. The mix of music, culture, and interactive experiences makes it feel like a full celebration, not just an event.”
Her brother Abdullah Al-Qahtani added that he is especially excited about the cultural themes and live performances.
“Seeing different Islamic cultures represented in one place is special. I am also looking forward to AlKhudher’s concert because it brings back many memories,” he said.
The “Tafasahu” exhibition invites visitors to reflect on belonging through the traditional majlis, reinterpreting it as a social and cultural space through stories, memories, and everyday moments.
At the library, families can enjoy storytelling sessions about Eid traditions and togetherness, along with interactive activities such as writing Eid greetings and joining educational challenges and competitions.
The Children’s Museum will offer a virtual journey into Eid celebrations across cultures. Children will explore traditional clothing, create designs through hands-on activities, and watch a short film highlighting the beauty of Eid Al-Adha traditions.
