Where We Are Going Today: Myra – French cuisine and pastries in Jeddah

  • Myra — on Hira street in central Jeddah — is hard to miss with its signature purple arch doors

Myra in Jeddah is an ideal stop for a mix of desserts and casual brunch dishes, particularly for lovers of French cuisine and pastries.

From fresh juice and madeleines to eggs on brioche, the Myra menu takes on the challenge of meeting almost every brunch and dessert craving.

Myra — on Hira street in central Jeddah — is hard to miss with its signature purple arch doors. The restaurant is wide, sunlit, and decorated with purple throughout.

As a loyal fan of eggs Benedict, I decided to try out their croissant Benedict, which comes with a poached egg, crispy bacon, and of course; hollandaise sauce. At 52 riyals, it’s an expensive dish, but it was delicious, and the fluffiness of the croissant balanced out the intensity of the yolk with the sauce.

We also got the French toast to share, which brought together the flavors of salted caramel, coffee ice cream, pecan, and cinnamon cream nicely.

While Myra stands out as a dessert spot for its delicately crafted pastries, the menu also presents a range of health-conscious options, from Hello, Good Morning — a protein shake with strawberry and banana — to iced matcha rose and collagen latte.

I went for a Myra boost juice (SR 3o), which consists of acai, raspberry, apple, and banana. It was a refreshing and sweet option that went nicely with the meal. Others at the table went for Myra’s iced ginger turmeric latte, another wellness-centered beverage.

Moving onto the vast patisserie selection, I decided to try the tiramisu tart, which was a nice twist on a regular tiramisu, offering all the classic flavors but with a tart twist topped with the coffee and jivara mousse. And I couldn’t skip past the funky take on a classic pain aux chocolate, which came in a swirl shape with dark chocolate pieces.

On top of our chocolate selection, we wanted to try Myra’s madeleines, which are not a common dessert option at most spots in the Kingdom. We went for the lemon madeleines, which were coated with sweet white chocolate, and tasted lovely with the lemon notes. Myra also offers a selection of ice-creams.

Overall, Myra is a great spot if you are looking for innovative, high-quality dessert and brunch options. It is certainly on the expensive side, but, if you are able to spend that little bit extra, it’s worth it.
