Indonesia’s BPKH inks deal with OSUS to explore investment in Makkah

Saudi real estate developer OSUS has signed an MoU with Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji, the authority responsible for managing and investing Hajj funds in Indonesia, to explore investment partnership opportunities in Makkah. The signing took place on the sidelines of the Markaz Al-Balad Al-Ameen annual gathering in Makkah, which brings together leaders and investors to strengthen partnerships in the Hajj and Umrah sector.
The MoU was signed under the patronage of Makkah Region Mayor Musaed Al-Dawood, by Ahmed Al-Qahtani, group chief executive officer of OSUS, and Dr. Indra Gunawan, member of the executive board and chief investment officer of BPKH, in the presence of senior representatives from both organizations.
The MoU aims to explore investment partnership opportunities and develop investments compliant with Shariah designed to generate sustainable returns. The collaboration will focus on developing projects in Makkah, prioritizing initiatives that enhance the experience of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and expand capacity in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as an attractive investment destination.
Abdullah Al-Majed, chairman of OSUS, said: “This MoU marks a key step in strengthening Saudi–Indonesian collaboration in the Hajj and Umrah sector. Through our partnership with BPKH, we aim to develop Islamic Shariah-compliant investment assets that contribute to attracting investments into the Kingdom, serve pilgrims, and deliver sustainable long-term value.”
Gunawan added: “This partnership supports BPKH’s strategy to invest prudently in Shariah-compliant Islamic products in the Kingdom, delivering competitive returns while enhancing the quality of services for Indonesian pilgrims.
“This investment is in line with our new strategy which focuses on a stable and sustainable investment-based framework. We look forward to a productive and long-term collaboration with OSUS.”
This MoU comes as part of OSUS’s strategy to expand its international partnerships and attract strategic investments, contributing to the development of high-quality projects that support the growth of the Hajj and Umrah sector and enhance the services provided to pilgrims.
