From a food truck in Alkhobar to a six-branch establishment with outlets in Riyadh and the Eastern Province, Pickup Burger’s success speaks for itself.
It all starts with the star of the show: the beef burger. It comes with cheese, Pickup sauce, and your choice of a single or double patty. Now, I was a bit doubtful about this one because I usually like my burgers with all the fixin’s — tomato, lettuce, onion, etc. — but this one really surprised me.
I got mine medium well and the beef was cooked perfectly; it won’t scare away the pink haters, and it won’t offend the rare beef aficionados. Solid bread, solid sauce, and very juicy. I will definitely be ordering this again.
You must get the double, though, for that well-balanced ratio that gives you the perfect bite every time (and of course I add jalapeno, another must).
Another beef option is their truffle burger, which comes with rocca, cheese, fried onion, and truffle sauce.
As for the fried chicken burgers, they offer maple, classic crispy chicken, and truffle chicken burgers.
I thought the classic chicken burger was very good — the crisp was great and the chicken was juicy and cooked well. There was, however, a bit too much sauce for my liking and I had hoped for a more flavorful, spicy chicken patty.
Now on to my favorite part: the fries! Just regular fries that you can get seasoned or plain that I have zero notes on — great flavor, great texture, all round tasty fries that will definitely have you digging through the paper bag for leftovers.
They have loaded fries too: Pickup style with crispy onions, jalapeno, and special sauce as well as truffle fries that come with truffle sauce and the crispy onion.
The chicken bites with caramelized maple sauce are a fun side to share and a good option if you have your heart set on a beef burger but still want some fried chicken.
Give this place a go, its story may well inspire you to buy your own food truck one day.
